| 25th Anniversary, General Leadership, To The Point | Comments Off on Arrow Story – Jason Fizzard

Arrow’s Vision is to see: Christian Leaders equipped to influence every sphere of society, impact every nation, and reach every person for Jesus. In celebrating Arrow Leadership’s 25th year, we’ve asked Arrow Leaders – from class 1 to present – to share their insights on “being led more by, leading more like and leading more to Jesus.”

Jason Fizzard, Arrow Class 36, shares from Vietnam where he lives and works to equip and support Christian English teachers in Asia. Jason talks about his involvement with the Arrow Leadership Program as a training ground for him to be led more by Jesus and more equipped to train others.

Communicating in a World of Secular Spirituality

Leading More To Jesus

In this special 25th anniversary article, Merv Budd (Arrow Class 9) observes that many Christians have become largely unconversant in the lingua franca of secular spirituality – in other words, not knowing how to have spiritual conversations with our neighbours and friends. Read his insights, interact with the questions, and practice speaking in a new language.

Recently, I was at a talk where the speaker mentioned the rise in the number of people who are unaffiliated with organized religion, yet who would refer to themselves as “spiritual.” One of the people present made the comment, “What does that even mean?” For some reason, this comment cause an “aha” moment for me.

I think, for very many Christians, we have become largely unconversant in the lingua franca of secular spirituality (a language that is used among people who speak various different languages). We do not know how to have spiritual conversations because we have a fairly narrow understanding of what those conversations need to be about. Continue Reading

Integrate: Jesus-Centered Leadership is a new leader development resource that will be available from Arrow Leadership this September. See Everything Through Jesus’ Heart

Led More By Jesus

In this special 25th Anniversary article, Arrow leader Mark Buchanan, Class 10, writes about dwelling in Christ so deeply that you see everything through Jesus’ heart. Read Mark’s inspiring perspective and pass this story along for others to benefit from his unique view on this topic.

I had an epiphany in Bolivia.

Christ the Redeemer

It was in the city of Cochabamba. Towering above that city, similar to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, is a 100-foot statue of Jesus. He glows white, as though in transfiguration. His face is set with deep calm and fierce resolve. His arms are stretched wide, both cruciform and welcoming: Come unto me, all you who are weary. I drove with a friend up the precipitous gravel road to the base of the statue and stood at Jesus’ feet, looking up in fear and trembling. Continue Reading

Breaking Down Generational Barriers

| 25th Anniversary, General Leadership, To The Point | Comments Off on Breaking Down Generational Barriers

Leading More Like Jesus

Michelle Arthur, Arrow Class 29, has written this special 25th Anniversary article with a focus on breaking down generational barriers. This, she says, will promote value for every believer, no matter their age, as a significant member of the body of Christ. This is a great article for church leaders to read and process together.

Many of us are familiar with the concepts of mentoring and discipleship. However, after nearly a decade serving women in both parachurch and local church contexts, I have experienced hundreds of blank stares when I encourage women to seek mentors and challenge them to become one.

These women say they don’t feel qualified for such a role, despite being long-time believers, faithful church attenders, and regulars at their Bible studies. Continue Reading
